Fair Play code of conduct

Gameset works when teams turn up. These are the Fair Play rules exactly as the app applies them: what earns a card, what a card does, and what happens when a team is reported.

  • A yellow card stays active for 30 days.

  • Two active yellows make a red.

  • A red card keeps a team out of Ranked challenges for 30 days.

Yellow and red cards

  • A card goes on the record of whoever was at fault: a team, or a single player.
  • A yellow card stays active for 30 days.
  • When a second yellow lands on a record that already has an active one, the two turn into one red card at once. Those yellows are then used up, so the next yellow starts a new count.
  • A red card stays active for 30 days. Reds are never used up: a team's reds are counted for good.
  • A team's third red card, however long ago the first two ran out, suspends the team permanently, and everyone on its roster is barred from team Ranked.
  • Your cards, and the day each one runs out, are on your profile under Fair Play.

What earns a card

  • Pulling your team out of a confirmed match less than 24 hours before kickoff earns the team a yellow card, and less than 2 hours before, a red card. Before you confirm, the app shows which card, if any, you would get.
  • Not turning up to a confirmed match earns the team a red card, once a report about it stands. The match then counts as a 3–0 win for the team that came.
  • When neither team posts a result and the match is voided, each team gets a yellow card.
  • Leaving a team when that leaves it with fewer players than one of its confirmed matches needs earns you, the player who left, a red card, however far off the match is. A player removed by a captain or co-captain gets no card.
  • A venue can report a team's misconduct at a match it hosted: violence, abuse or damage. A report alone earns nothing. A person on our team reviews it and can give the team a yellow or a red card, which then counts like any other card.
  • Nothing else earns a card. A court you book through Book a court never carries one.

When a team doesn't turn up

  • From kickoff, a captain or co-captain of either team can report the other team as a no-show from the match in the app. This works for confirmed Ranked matches, once per team per match.
  • The reported team's captain or co-captain has 72 hours to answer: accept the report, or contest it and say what happened.
  • We remind them about 24 hours before their time runs out.
  • If nobody answers in time, the report stands.
  • When a report stands, the team that didn't come gets a red card, and the match is recorded as a 3–0 win for the team that did. It counts like any 3–0: it moves both teams' ELO and their wins and losses.
  • The reported team answers the report it got. It can't file a report of its own on that match.
  • While a report is open, nobody can post a result for that match.
  • We don't act on Fair Play deadlines between 23:00 and 09:00 Athens time. A report that would stand overnight stands after 09:00, so nobody is woken by a notification.

When a report is contested

  • A person on our team looks at both sides and decides within 72 hours.
  • If the report is upheld, it stands, with the same red card and the same 3–0.
  • If it is rejected, nobody gets a card, and both teams have 24 hours from the decision to post the result. If nobody posts it, the match is voided.
  • If no decision is made within 72 hours, the report is dropped: no card, and the match is voided.

What a red card does

  • A team with an active red card can't send Ranked challenges or accept them, and other teams see it marked as suspended.
  • Matches the team had already confirmed still go ahead.
  • Until the red runs out, nobody can leave the team or be removed from it, and the team can't be disbanded. New players can still join.
  • While the red lasts, the team doesn't count as qualified for the tournament.
  • A team with three red cards is suspended permanently, and everyone on its roster is barred from team Ranked. The suspension doesn't run out.
  • When a 30-day red runs out, Ranked opens again and we let the team know.
  • A red card on a player's own record shows on their profile until it runs out.

Results

  • After a match, one team posts the score and picks an MVP from the other team, and the other team confirms it.
  • A team match that neither team posts a result for in time is voided. Any other match with no result posted 30 days after it ends is voided too, as is a result nobody confirms within 30 days of it being posted, and any ELO it moved is put back.

Fair competition

  • Once a city has enough active teams, two teams can't meet in Ranked again after one of them has beaten the other twice in the last 30 days, until the older win is more than 30 days old. Draws don't count.

Respect

  • You can report a player, a team or a venue review for harassment, spam, inappropriate content or anything else, and add details.
  • A person on our team reviews every report. Nothing is hidden automatically.
  • We can take down a profile photo that breaks these rules.
  • You can block any player. You then won't see each other around the app, and in a match you both play in, each of you shows as an anonymous player. You can unblock them later from Friends.
